Mohan studies in a college in the city. He belongs to a small town where he comes on vacation. On one such holiday he visits the country mela and meets Kamli, the merry-go-round gypsy girl... both are attracted towards each other, they fall in love. Kamli manages to meet Mohan, whenever free, across the river, down the sprawling greens, under the starry sky. Soon the time comes when the mela has to pack up and Kamli to go away Mohan and Kamli decide to elope, Mohan is torn between his duty towards home and love of Kamli, and finally, did they run away?
